Sun International’s Sun City, Carnival City and GrandWest Ranked amongst SA’s Coolest

Hotel and gaming group Sun International, and three of its properties: Sun City in the North West; Carnival City in Gauteng; and GrandWest in the Western Cape, have been ranked amongst South Africa’s coolest in the 2018 Sunday Times Generation Next Awards.

Sun International was ranked second in the Coolest Hotel Group category while Sun City soared to take up first place in the Coolest Local Entertainment Place category for the second consecutive year. Carnival City ranked fifth while GrandWest sixth in the same category.

“We thrilled that the Sun International brand and three of its properties have been ranked amongst the ‘coolest’ by South Africa’s youth in this year’s Sunday Times Generation Next Awards. For any brand to be sustainable in a highly competitive market, it needs to resonate with young people as they possess future purchasing power,” says Rob Collins, Sun International: Group Chief Strategy & Operations Officer.

“That Sun International, Sun City, Carnival City, and GrandWest have been rated as ‘cool’ speaks to our emphasis on delivering relevant, cosmopolitan entertainment experiences for people of all ages. They also speak to our employees’ commitment to quality and innovation.”

The Sunday Times Generation Next Study, now in its 14th year, is the leading annual youth brand preference and consumer behaviour survey. Leading youth market specialists, HDI Youth Marketeers, polls more than twelve thousand youths from around the country, across more than seventy categories to determine what SA’s kids, teens and young adults find on-trend and aspirational.
