WPT online series launches in May

May 2020 will go down in history as the month where the first WPT Online Series champions were crowned, as a new festival launches, offering more than $30 million in guarantees.

partypoker will host a total of 65 events from Sunday, May 3, 2020, to Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in partnership with the World Poker Tour.

The tiered structure of the series means all players can join the action, whatever their bankroll. Buy-ins will range from $50 to $25,000, with a mix of No Limit Hold’Em and Pot Limit Omaha tournaments on offer.

The WPT Online Championship offers a guarantee of $5 million, and will begin on Sunday, May 10, with four day ones running before the final three days of action begin on Monday, May 18. The buy-in for players wishing to be the first ever WPT Online Championship winner is $3,200. The champion will also be rewarded with entry to the WPT Tournament of Champions presented by Baccarat Crystal, worth $15,000.

There will be plenty of excitement before that though, as players will fight it out for a prize pool of $2 million on the first day of the festival in the WPT Grand Opener, which players can buy into for $5,000. A minimum of $2 million in guarantees will also be paid out in the WPT500, which players can join for $500, while $1 million is guaranteed for the WPT High Roller, for a buy-in of $5,000.

Live commentaries of events, provided by WPT Champions Club member James Dempsey, will be streamed on partypokerTV – partypoker’s Twitch channel. The events covered will be the final stages of the WPT500, WPT High Roller, WPT Super High Roller and WPT Online Championship.

To mark the monumental achievement of winning one of the three flagship WPT Online Series events and to give players something to remember their special moment by, trophies will be awarded to the champions of flagship events within the series. All winners will also receive a souvenir frame with their winning hand.

The WPT Online Championship winner will receive a coveted replica of the WPT Champions Cup and will see their name engraved on the original trophy.

The winners of the WPT500 and WPTDeepStacks™ will individually receive bespoke trophies, and winners of highlighted events will be awarded the popular WPT Card logo trophy.

In addition to the trophies, players will receive bespoke co-branded merchandise specially designed for the WPT Online Series.

On top of the cash prizes on offer, partypoker is rewarding the top 15 performers with leaderboard prizes worth more than $50,000. The reward for finishing top of the leaderboard is an $11,000 MILLIONS Passport. Second to fifth place will win a $5,000 WPT Passport, which will be valid for 24 months to use for any partypoker LIVE-sponsored WPT festival, live or online. Sixth to tenth position will qualify for a $3,300 seat to the Main Event of any WPT live or online event for 12 months, and eleventh to fifteenth place will be awarded with a $550 WPT500 seat for any live or online WPT event for 12 months.
