Red Means Luck: NFL’s Fortunate Teams In Scarlet

Black and Green, Short on Luck
Separated by just one point, the NFL teams that wear black as their primary colour narrowly beat the green teams with a Final Lucky Score of 43.
An outlier among the teams wearing black or green is the Baltimore Ravens, who scored the most points (518) during the 2024-25 regular season, more than any other team associated with the colours on a roulette table. However, the Ravens ultimately lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.
The teams whose primary colours include black, the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders, had a Wins Score almost 20 points behind the teams in green–37 to 53–impacting their final lucky score. This was largely down to the Las Vegas Raiders only winning four regular season games, resulting in them receiving a second-to-last Final Lucky Score of just 27.
On the other hand the green teams, the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets, languished far behind in the penalties metric, with 27, which is 37 behind the red teams’ average score. These three teams conceded over 100 penalties, with the New York Jets giving up 137, the highest across all the teams involved.
