As the global iGaming industry continues to expand and become more competitive, today’s players regularly seek out honest guidance and transparent reviews before choosing where to play. To understand where the industry is headed, we took the opportunity to chat with Alexander Korsager, Chief Gaming Officer and in-house expert at the leading gaming authority, Casino.org. It was fascinating to hear his take on the latest trends and evolving patterns in the gambling sector, from discussion of evolving media roles, to the importance of regulatory clarity and clear communication.
Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, Alexander. The global iGaming scene is truly taking off today, so it helps to hear from experts like yourself who understand the industry inside out. First off, please can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Thanks – it’s great to be here. I’ve been working in the iGaming space for 10 years now, across a variety of leading industry sites, which has given me a very comprehensive understanding of the modern online gambling industry. I’ve always been a keen gamer and gambler in my spare time, so moving into the online casino world felt like a very natural career step for me. I like to think I understand the sector from all angles, as I tend to examine the options both from my own perspective as a player, and then through an expert lens as well. I joined the team at Casino.org back in 2023, where I now work as Chief Gaming Officer to create our content across multiple key global markets. It’s been a fantastic experience so far. I really appreciate having the opportunity to do what I love and build on my knowledge every day.
You’ve witnessed the dramatic transformation of the iGaming world in the last decade. How do you think player expectations have changed during that time, and what are their main priorities when comparing casinos online?
Things have changed drastically in that time. I think the key difference is that players are much better informed than they used to be, and they’re really taking their experience into their own hands. Over at Casino.org, we’re finding that players are coming to us with a clear set of expectations and criteria, as they want to know exactly why a platform deserves their time and trust. With such a huge variety of online casinos available for players in the US today, they know that they don’t need to settle for an iGaming experience that doesn’t meet their standards. Instead, they’re taking the time to compare the different operators available, which includes assessing things like payout speeds, bonus terms, and the quality of customer support on offer. I think trust is a major priority for today’s players – they want to see well-established, well-regulated brands with transparent policies and consistent offerings.
The global iGaming industry is growing astonishingly quickly, making it challenging for players to cut through the noise and find the facts. How can industry platforms can better inform audiences in an increasingly complex and competitive digital landscape?
It’s certainly challenging – even for myself and my colleagues at Casino.org, keeping up with the latest developments is a full time task. Media roles in the gambling sector have evolved considerably, and I think platforms like Casino.org now have a uniquely important role to play within the wider iGaming scene. Players are increasingly looking for independent sources of information, and they expect us to offer a wide-ranging library of resources, guides and comparison tools. I think platforms throughout the sector are recognizing this, and beginning to realize that clear, honest communication is absolutely vital in the online casino world today. We take that responsibility very seriously at Casino.org, as we know we’re often the go-to source of information for both regular players and those who are exploring the sector for the first time. It’s all about explaining things clearly, and empowering players to make more informed decisions.
The regulation of online gambling continues to change and evolve in different parts of the world, with new markets opening up all the time. How can players and operators navigate these changes, and why is regulatory clarity important?
Regulation affects everything from advertising and promotional offers to responsible gambling tools and licensing restrictions. It’s also constantly evolving, even in more mature markets, so being able to quickly understand any changes is really important for all stakeholders across the sector today. I’d say that people can navigate these changes fairly well as long as they ensure to pay attention and stay informed. There are plenty of excellent publications out there which break things down in a way that’s easy to understand, so there’s no need to try and decode the jargon by yourself. Finding those trusted sources is a vital part of navigating any regulatory changes. In my opinion, it’s crucial that both players and operators can meet in the middle and access clarity, as that creates a more level playing field and empowers people with the information they need.
Lastly, what do you think gambling media will look like in the future? How will players access the information they need, and how will sites like Casino.org change over time?
I think being able to access transparent, trusted sources of information will be more important than ever. With iGaming becoming increasingly popular, the market is only going to grow and become more crowded, which means that accessing expert opinions and guidance will be a key part of the overall journey for players. Explaining the latest developments in the industry is becoming an increasingly significant part of my role at Casino.org, and I take pride in that. I think media platforms have an increasingly important role to play in bridging that gap between operators and consumers in the iGaming space, particularly with the rise of AI, as we know that players still want to see evaluations from real experts who know the industry inside out. It’s a fascinating time, and I can’t wait to see where things go from here!
