Eyas Gaming set to target German market

Industry veterans team up in new venture

A team of online gambling industry veterans has established a new venture called Eyas Gaming with the objective of targeting the newly-regulated German online gambling market.

Joe Saumarez-Smith, Michael Brady and Adam Joseph will work together to build an online gaming offering, with an initial launch planned for the opening of the fully regulated German market in July 2021.

Eyas Gaming is being backed by the German Gauselmann Group. The internationally active, family-owned company develops, produces and distributes games and slot machines and operates the MERKUR Casino chain, which is well-known on an international level.

Eyas Gaming will use the Bede Gaming platform for all its operations, which Gauselmann acquired in March 2020, and will offer Merkur online slots games from Gauselmann’s Blueprint and Edict divisions.

Eyas Gaming is headquartered in Malta and is currently applying for a MGA licence. It will also apply for a German online gambling licence as soon as such licences are made available.

Joe Saumarez Smith, Chairman of Eyas Gaming, said: “The regulation of the German market is a very exciting time and a huge opportunity for us. The proposed rules for the German market will present some big challenges for all operators but we think that we will be able to build a market-leading product with Merkur that is specific to the German market and the new regulatory regime.”

Paul Gauselmann, founder and CEO of the Gauselmann Group, said: “I am thrilled about this collaboration. The operational experience of our partners in conjunction with our technological platform as well as our renowned Merkur games will enable us to successfully establish online offerings in Germany and other regulated markets.”
