Continent 8 Technologies has been awarded a prestigious contract from the Government of Gibraltar.
Continent 8 has been working with the Government of Gibraltar since 2011 and went through a competitive tender process for the new five-year contract. The contract will run until June 2027 and covers data centre hosting services.
Continent 8 was able to provide the solutions and capacity required via its highly secure, unique data centre which is located 500m deep within the Rock in a former Ministry of Defence facility.
Continent 8 is a global provider of data centre services with its private connected network spanning more than 85 locations across four continents. Connecting Gibraltar to the rest of the world, Continent 8 has established itself as the leading infrastructure provider in Gibraltar, with the most secure and well-equipped hosting site in the jurisdiction. In 2021, Continent 8 expanded its offering to include Public Cloud which was launched in response to changing market conditions and the demand for innovative infrastructure by Gibraltar businesses.
David Black, managing director of EMEA at Continent 8 Technologies, said: “We are delighted to be chosen by the Government of Gibraltar to be the trusted hosting partner of its critical infrastructure for the next five years. It was a competitive tender process, but ultimately our solution emerged as the strongest.
“Buried deep within the Rock of Gibraltar in a former MoD facility, our world-class Gibraltar data centre is unrivalled in the level of security it offers our customers. This, combined with our suite of solutions from managed hosting to public and private cloud, make us the go-to infrastructure partner for local and international businesses.
“While we are a global business that spans more than 85 connected locations around the world, we deliver highly localised solutions in the markets we operate and will continue to take this approach as we deploy our ambitious international expansion plans.”
