British Casino Awards: CHIPS confirmed as ‘official charity’

The charity, which raises funds to purchase specialised powered wheelchairs for disabled youngsters, has also pledged its support for the Community Engagement Award.

Co-founder Linda Lindsay comments: “CHIPS is a unique charity which was formed by the gaming industry and which encapsulates many of its stand-out characteristics.  Since our formation in summer 2001 we have raised over £2m thanks to the wonderful generosity of our corporate supporters.

“Despite all of the presentations that I have made over the years, it never fails to move me when I witness the life-changing impact that one of our powered wheelchairs has, not only on the individual recipient but on the family unit as a whole, comprising parents, carers, grandparents and siblings.

“The sad reality is that the demand for powered wheelchairs will always exceed our ability to supply them but with the help of the industry we can help to close that gap.  On behalf of CHIPS and our Trustees I am delighted to support these Awards which showcase the very positive nature of the industry.”

The British Casino Awards is being held in association with the National Casino Forum (NCF) and with the support of the European Casino Association (ECA), at London’s Hippodrome Casino on Tuesday 6th February.  Several of the awards have been decided via an industry vote, with one – Best UK Casino Restaurant – chosen solely by consumers.

The finalists in the voted-for categories can be seen online at, while the winners of the ‘panel choice’ awards will be announced on the night.

Commenting on the industry’s reaction to The British Casino Awards debut, event and media director Paul Ryder says : “With major industry names including Everi, Evolution Gaming, Interblock, Playtech and TCSJOHNHUXLEY as sponsors, and 2000-plus individuals taking the time to vote, The British Casino Awards seems to have got everybody talking.”
